Niigata Taiko Teams: Perform with Kodo at EC!
Calling all taiko teams in Niigata Prefecture! Playing taiko with friends, what could be better? How about playing taiko at Earth Celebration with your group, fellow taiko enthusiasts, and Kodo?
In 2022, we have launched a new initiative to get more taiko players in Niigata Prefecture involved in EC. We’re offering four teams the chance to perform with Kodo and to showcase their own repertoire, too. Kodo is excited to hear who wants to join them on stage.

For this initiative:
1. Four Niigata taiko groups will join Kodo on EC’s main stage for a collaborative performance of Kodo One Earth Music piece “Haruka."
2. All four Niigata taiko groups will be given a chance to perform their own repertoire on the Kisaki Shrine Fringe Stage. Each group will receive 15-minute slot in the programme on either Aug. 20 or 21
3. Rehearsals for the collaborative performance with Kodo will be held at Kodo’s private rehearsal hall (Kodo Village).

*Complimentary tickets will be provided for up to 10 people for one Harbour Concert (your choice of either Aug. 20 or 21)

- Feb 10 (Thu)–May 31 (Tue)
*Applications have closed. Applicants will be informed of selection results around June 10 (Fri).
- Application Conditions
- ・Applications are open to taiko teams based in Niigata Prefecture (No restrictions on the number of team members, etc. All ages welcome.)
・If selected, your team will be required to participate in rehearsals on Aug. 19 and 20. If you cannot take part in the festival on Aug. 21, please tell us so we can schedule your Fringe performance slot on Aug. 20.
- Application Method
- ・Only four teams can take part. If more than four applications are received, four teams will be selected by lottery.
・If selected, your team will receive complimentary tickets for one of the three Harbour Concerts (up to 10 tickets per team for one performance).
・Teams are expected to bring their own instruments to the event. (Rental of instruments may also be available upon request.)
・Teams must arrange and cover their own accommodation and transportation.
・Applicants will be informed of selection results around June 10 (Fri).
・Due to the ever-changing COVID-19 situation, please note that event details may be subject to change.
